Visual processing

Here’s a really interesting response to the blog post called Connecting with others.

I have permission to use the correspondent’s own words:

I just read your post on auditory processing.

I’ve noticed a similar effect on visual processing – it can take some time for my brain to work out what an object/scene is. I’ve also been wondering if this is improving with my coronet. I’m fairly sure I can read more before mental exhaustion sets in and my visual field contracts and darkens.

I should make it clear that my vision is unusual. Following double cataract surgery I got a detached retina in the right eye. Within 3 days it was blind. A wonderful surgeon reattached it but there is a slight wrinkle over the macula. This can’t be corrected and so my brain always has to interpret two slightly different images.

Not surprising that it struggles at times and gets tired.
