How Long do I use the Red Lights?
I've been having a great discussion with a blog-reader, who was keen for his head to spend a lot more time under red and near infrared lights. There's an awful lot we still don't know about works best for each type of neurodegenerative disease.
Excellent Presentation on PD History & Genetics
Thanks to one of the blog readers who told me about this excellent lecture, entitled Parkinson's disease: decoding the mysteries of neurodegeneration.
The Causation Rabbit Hole
The thing that drives international research into neurodegenerative disorders is the hunt for The Cause. Billions of dollars have been spent to find The Cause of Alzheimer's disease, The Cause of Parkinson's disease and so on.
The Beginning
As for the knee, after a month, pain levels had reduced, and three months after starting daily light, I needed no pain medication and realised that I was walking with a limp out of habit. All that needed to be done to keep the knee happy was to shine light on it every day. Not a difficult thing to do.
Red and Near Infrared Light
Sunlight has a range of wavelengths, and these have been classified into four main groups: ultraviolet, visible, near infrared and far infrared. We can see the light in the visible spectrum (red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo, violet) but we can't see ultraviolet light and neither can we see infrared light.
